From its office in Rhode Island, a collaborative group of RPS scientists and engineers is focused on addressing environmental concerns associated with offshore wind development, oil and gas exploration, the shipment of hydrocarbons through pipelines, and other types of coastal and marine human use and development.

Position Overview

RPS is seeking a biologist, ecologist, or environmental professional capable of providing research and technical support for analysis of impacts on marine organisms.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have a BS degree with 3-5 years experience or MA/MS degree in marine biology, fisheries biology, ecology, biological oceanography, natural resource management, or similar.
  • Necessary skills include excellent written and oral communication, efficient and thorough literature review, the collection and preparation of biological data, preparation of technical reports, analysis of large fisheries databases, expertise in marine species population dynamics, knowledge of ecological statistics, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting, the NEPA process, data processing software (e.g., R, MatLab), and/or data management are highly desirable.
  • This position does not include field or laboratory work and will be conducted solely in an office setting.
  • Applicant must have strong writing, research, quantitative and communication skills and interest in environmental permitting (e.g., NEPA support).
  • The successful applicant must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with an ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment, working both independently and as part of a team.
