Position Overview

Consultants in the Energy Systems Transformation practice work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities, including Smart Grid, NERC Reliability Compliance, cyber security, electricity generation, transmission, distribution, alternative fuel transportation, energy storage, and renewables.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the assessment and development of business strategies, organizational structures and business processes for key energy-related organizations
  • Conducting assessments and evaluations of business processes, internal controls and compliance with NERC Reliability Standards
  • Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations
  • Designing and implementing process improvement throughout power systems operations
  • Supporting and improving processes to support compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards
  • Performing data collection; spreadsheet creation and management; statistical and economic analyses; technology performance modeling
  • Conducting third party audits
  • Interviewing business managers, subject matter experts, technology experts and public policy officials to support client projects
  • Developing final reports and client deliverables
  • Project management
  • Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy market trends and energy-related technology

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering, science, business and/or economics discipline. Profiles combining engineering and business disciplines preferred
  • A basic understanding of the electric utility and power system
  • Ability to manage projects
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-confidence and determination
  • Experience developing and using analytical models and simulations
  • Travel is required

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work
  • Frequently travels by airplane, train or car as necessary to perform work at another location
  • Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
  • Generally works in an office environment
