Position Overview

We currently have an opening for a Plant Project Engineer in our White City, Oregon facility.

This position is responsible for providing electrical/mechanical project engineering support and services to the White City Oregon Fiber Cement facility. The objectives of this position are to manage the implementation of uniform systems that harness best practices and technologies to optimize operation’s performance in production efficiencies, quality output, and cost reductions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, specifying, budget preparation, planning and scheduling, procurement, installation and commissioning of capital projects
  • Develop and implement new processes, improve safety, improve quality, reduce costs, and improve product performance
  • Communicate with project team and plant personnel to define the functional and safety requirements for project scopes and ensures the project will meet the needs of the plant
  • Provides engineering support and technical guidance to end users and plant personnel
  • Evaluates suppliers and contractors to allow for the procurement of equipment, facilities, and labor to complete projects on time, on budget and to acceptable quality standards
  • Experience and desire to work with electricians and other team members on the manufacturing floor while installing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • Integral member of our safty culture, and should be passionate about building safe manufacturing systems
  • Occasional travel in the field to other facilities

Duties -- % of Time:

  • 50% Develop and implement new processes, improve safety, improve quality, reduce costs, and improve production performance
  • 40% Design, specifying, budget preparation, planning and scheduling, procurement, installation and commissioning of capital projects
  • 10% Provides engineering and safety support and technical guidance to end users and plant personnel

Qualifications

Problem Solving:

  • Must be able to demonstrate technical, electrical, and mechanical aptitude
  • Must be fluent in the application of lean manufacturing, cost reduction, statistical process control and optimization techniques
  • Must be highly computer literate
  • Must be able to effectively diagnose and solve problems
  • Must be able to demonstrate creativity and initiative in attacking and solving problems
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD

Knowledge:

  • 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of applied professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough understanding of automated control systems, computer integrated manufacturing and systems standards especially power distribution, PLCs, drives, man machine interfaces and motion control
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing process, tooling, material properties, and engineering standards
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques, problem solving methods, technical drawings, maintenance techniques and manufacturing techniques are required
