Position Overview
The Administrative Director for Energy, Environment and Resources serves as administrative and programmatic director for the Energy, Resources, and Environment Program.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Administrative Management:
- Provides operational leadership and partners with Director to establish a vision and creates a strategic plan for ERE
- Works with Director to lead strategic planning; establishes long-term goals
- Creates and implements systems, policies, and procedures
- Hires and supervises ERE staff, delegates and assigns work as needed and appropriate
Financial Management and Fundraising:
- Oversees all ERE grants and budgets, including annual budget review and planning
- Partners with SAIS Development Office on proposal writing and outreach to potential donors
- Raises funds to support program and other activities
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors to support work of the program
- Recruit relevant individuals to teach, speak at events, and attend program events/courses
Program Management:
- Recruits experts for policy study groups; manages meeting and any publications
- In collaboration with the Director, establishes research themes, guides the research program, and recruits research fellows
- Evaluatse program policies procedures, enrollments, tuition, expenditures and statistics to improve program participation or quality
- In collaboration with the Director, advices and consults the Dean(s) on student and academic issues, school policies, and other student, staff, or faculty issues
- Recruits relevant individuals to teach, speak at events, and attend program events/courses
Program Networking & Travel:
- Represents program/ERE to international, national, local, and university audiences and may speak on behalf of the program/department
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external constituents
- May travel locally, nationally, internationally for networking and other program related activities
Projects and Publications:
- Carries out high level projects and/or initiatives and represents academic directory on committees or meetings
- Contributes to editing and/or oversees the publishing process of books and other program related press
Miscellaneous:
- Conducts independent research on matters related to the program
- Represent ERE interests at various committees at the school
- May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong Administrative, analytical, and problem-solving skills and work independently
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to handle multiple projects
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Strong organization and time management skills
Experience:
- Master's degree, PhD preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience program, operations, or administrative management
- Experience in a higher education or academic environment preferred
- Recognized expertise in the fields of energy or environment
- 2 year of experience with fundraising and overseeing budgets and grants
- 3 years of supervisory experience
