Position Overview

Not since rural electrification has the U.S. electric power industry seen such a state of extreme flux, and Boyd Jones has an opening for an experienced construction project manager that will place the right candidate on the front lines of this momentous change.

The position is responsible for coordinating and managing the complete construction of renewable energy projects in addition to all Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) aspects of the delivery of projects—from site selection to final installation and commissioning.

This role will be assumed by a demonstrated professional that is willing, capable, and comfortable making decisions in often-challenging settings. You’re driven by results and get things done quickly, but above all else, you execute projects with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting business development efforts during all phases of project pursuits, including due diligence, feasibility studies, proposal development, and interviews.
  • Preconstruction design and technical review duties including the management of overall project design; coordination of engineering and design; review of civil and electrical design; and management of constructability reviews. The ability to analyze and determine solutions for project modifications, non-conformities, and requests of suppliers and/or subcontractors for design or technical issues is critical.
  • Oversight of the contracting process for selection and management of designers, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors under terms outlined in master EPC contracts; this role is also responsible for development and management of project procurement schedules, including the advertisement, evaluation and award of associated purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Management, coordination, and inspection of contractor work during active construction; facilitation of meetings with project stakeholders and associated responsibilities; project reporting duties; analysis maintenance, and promotion of job site safety; and assisting project superintendents on due diligence walks and associated duties.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A passion for or a desire to learn more about the renewable energy industry.
  • We’re looking for a proven construction project manager who is ready to go to the next level in an organization large enough to get a taste of 8 market sectors but small enough to know your colleagues on a first-name basis.

Not Required:

  • Energy or utilities experience. We can teach you that!
  • The ideal candidate has 3-5 years’ experience in construction project management and proportionate knowledge in affiliated functions including project accounting, resource management, engineering, field operations, supply chain, and business management processes.
