~ The Alliance for Green Heat promotes modern wood and pellet heating systems as a low-carbon, sustainable and affordable energy solution. ~

The Alliance works to advance cleaner and more efficient residential heating technology, particularly for low and middle-income families. Founded in Maryland in 2009, the Alliance is an independent non-profit organization and is tax-exempt under section 501c3 of the tax code. 

The Alliance for Green Heat works on:

  • Advancing innovation through technology competitions for wood and pellet stoves
  • Working with state and federal agencies to expand and improve programs and materials that include or could include wood and pellet heating
  • Advocating for tax credits and other incentives for the cleanest and most efficient stoves and boilers
  • Educating stakeholders about the value of more widespread, smart deployment of modern wood and pellet heating to reduce reliance on fossil fuels

The Alliance for Green Heat partners with the renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change community, environmental, forestry, and air quality organizations, the wood and pellet stove industry and others.

Position Overview

Full time Renewable Energy Fellow position for those interested in climate change and renewable energy policy. Ideal applicants have experience in communications (traditional and social media) and event planning. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about residential renewable energy policy and how it applies to modern wood and pellet heating technology. Applicants must have a college degree or equivalent experience.

The fellow will be intensely engaged in preparing for the Wood Stove Design Challenge in Washington DC. The Fellow will manage social media accounts and communications, responsible for spreading awareness of a large competition being held in November and forwarding the mission of the Alliance for Green Heat.

Responsibilities

  • Traditional and social media management
  • Event planning and logistics
  • Helping manage a renewable energy technology competition
  • Portion of administrative duties
  • Managing volunteers

Requirements

  • Passion for renewable energy and energy efficiency
  • Communications experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Background in renewable energy, climate change, communications, government relations, poverty issues are a big plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential

Compensation

  • The Fellowship is full time for a minimum of 3 months and comes with a stipend of $1250 per month
