Position Overview
Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT), is searching for a wetland ecologist to join our Natural Resource Management & Permitting Service Line. With support of an existing team of professionals, you will:
Responsibilities
- Conduct wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, vegetation mapping, T&E species surveys, gopher tortoise relation and environmental assessments
- Working in wetlands, swamps, forest in adverse weather (hot, wet, etc.) conditions
- Work long hours as well as hours out-side of the normal work day
- Walking long distances while carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
- Requires regular, frequent overnight travel through the southeast United States
- Interact with clients
- Make presentations
- Develop marketing opportunities
- Keeping current of ecological regulations
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental or ecology-related field and 1-3 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Florida wetland, delineation, assessment and wetland permitting (FDEP, WMD, and USACE) experience is required
- Listed species including gopher tortoise permitting and relocation, environmental permitting of linear projects, land development and public/private projects experience is highly desirable
- Capable of walking long distances in rough terrain
- Capable of carrying a minimum of 50 lbs of equipment.
- Ability to travel out of town with extended overnight travel required
- Strong skills with Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Exhibit good technical writing skills and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines by prioritizing and multi-tasking
- Positive attitude, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven atmosphere
