Self-Help is a community development lender that has provided over $3.9 billion in financing to more than 43,000 home buyers, small businesses, and nonprofits nationwide. We provide lending solutions to manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers of recycled goods, sustainable agriculture and forestry products; renewable energy and environmental technology enterprises; organizations incorporating energy efficient or "green" components in their facilities, businesses and nonprofits offering sustainable services, land conservation organizations, and businesses and nonprofits located in "Smart Growth" areas, such as downtowns.
Self-Help reaches persons who are underserved by conventional lenders–particularly minorities, women, rural residents, and low-wealth families. Funds for lending come from deposits, grants, and other investments made by individuals and institutions across the U.S. A variety of commercial loan products are available.
Self-Help has financial products tailored to your organization’s needs, whether you’re a micro-business needing a few thousand dollars, or an established business seeking funds of a million dollars or more. At present, only our North Carolina operations provide business financing.
