Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s main economic, enterprise, innovation and investment agency. We run the Scottish Seed Fund, the Scottish Co-investment Fund, and the Scottish Venture Fund.
The Scottish Seed Fund invests in start-ups and early stage companies at the end phase of product development and/or commercialisation.
Funding between £20,000-£100,000 is available to companies. Investment can be as equity, a loan, or a combination of equity and loan funding.
The Scottish Co-investment Fund invests £100,000-£1 million in company finance deals of up to £2 million.
The Scottish Venture Fund (SVF) has been set up by Scottish Enterprise in conjunction with the Scottish Government to invest £500,000 to £2 million, along side private sector partners, in company deals between £2 million and £10 million.
In order to receive co-investment from the SCF or the SVF, an enterprise must ensure that at least one of Scottish Enterprise’s commercial partners is committed to investing 50% in the proposal. There are some sectors which Scottish Enterprise is restricted from investing in that are listed in our FAQ section.
Portfolio company example: Scottish Co-investment Fund invested in Scottish wave energy company AWS Ocean Energy.
