ATE’s principal focus is on equity investments in renewable energy projects, which are close to construction. ATE will consider buy-outs of operating projects and investments in companies with significant operating assets. ATE prefers to join other equity partners in its investments. Primary focus is on biomass, biogas, and small hydroelectric projects not requiring a major dam. Wind farms and certain types of solar energy projects are also considered.
Geothermal and municipal waste-to-energy projects are not accepted. Pilot projects demonstrating new technologies are generally not considered. Projects must meet or exceed local environmental requirements as well as international environmental standards. Projects that create local employment and in other ways improve the local economy are preferred. Projects that have the potential to sequester greenhouse gases and qualify as CDM projects are preferred. We can invest from a few million to tens of millions of dollars.
To date we have investments in Goes on Green a biofuel company and biomass projects in Thailand.
