The Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was established to finance public and private sector development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The IDB Group provides financing for private sector projects through the Bank’s Structured and Corporate Finance Department, as well as through the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the Multilateral Investment Fund.
The MIF supports a variety of investment funds focused on investing in small and medium enterprises. MIF is providing support to several investment funds that can invest in companies that employ renewable energy technologies or energy efficiency. Environment: A fundamental aim of MIF is to ensure that its activities foster environmentally sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. MIF has increasingly focused on specific initiatives to promote eco-efficient production and introduce new mechanisms to advance environmental awareness and capacity.
MIF invests less than $2 million in companies in a variety of sectors. We regularly make investments promoting better environmental management among small businesses by helping them see the benefits of achieving greater eco-efficiency. Areas of interest include Clean Energy Markets, Cleaner Production, Sustainable Agriculture, and Sustainable Tourism.
