Our four-year Ph.D. program in Sustainability Education – the first of its kind – views education broadly, as social learning that occurs in settings that are both formal (educational institutions) and non-formal (families, community events, media, and businesses). We offer a sequence of foundational courses along with the opportunity for individually-designed course work and a dissertation/project that supports change for a sustainable, socially just, and secure society.
Prescott College’s limited-residency Ph.D. programs are unlike any other educational experience. Students combine self-directed, individually mentored, and online education with brief visits to campus.
This highly selective, innovative, and forward-thinking program is especially useful for teachers, educators, community leaders and activists; professional leadership and management staff active in government and non-governmental organizations; and business professionals and social entrepreneurs.
