Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to perform the efficient and safe operating and maintenance of SunEdison wind power plants including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems within the wind turbine generators and balance of plant systems

Responsibilities

Comply with all safety, regulatory, environmental and administrative procedures at all times.
Conduct oneself in a professional manner ensuring all SunEdison policies and procedures are adhered to.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and operational activities on wind turbine generators.
Perform inspections of site mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, environmental mitigation measures, and infrastructure to identify operational or maintenance concerns and to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Perform and/or supervise all necessary maintenance and repairs to site grounds, roads and rights-of-way, perform or assist in substation and collection system maintenance and repairs, perform maintenance and inspections on all site vehicles, equipment, etc
Maintain accurate and detailed daily and weekly logs and reports for site activities, incidents, and events.
Conduct all activities in such a way to minimize equipment downtime and costs and maximize electrical generation and revenue.
Serve as one of SunEdison's on-site representatives to ensure that work performed by third party contractors is being done in compliance with contract requirements and meets necessary quality and safety standards.
Participate in the solicitation and review of bids from third party contractors for supply of goods and services.
Have the capability to work up to 60 hour per week + if required including nights for certain maintenance activities, sometimes during adverse weather conditions.
Have the capability to work on call during nights and weekends as needed, including during inclement weather.
Effectively communicate with all members of the team and/or subcontractors as required.
Complete projects assigned by Management.
Travel as needed.

Qualifications

Prior experience in one or more related fields is strongly preferred; wind turbine operations and/or maintenance, earth moving equipment operations, electrical substation and switchgear operations and/or maintenance, mechanical equipment operations and/or maintenance, solar operations and/or maintenance.
Prior experience with personal computers and familiarity with basic software, such as Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat).
Valid driver's license; able to pass a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical and associated requirements.
24/7 on-call availability every other week.
Technical 2 or 4 year college degree, vocational training, or relevant job skills certification, is strongly preferred.
Able to perform quality control inspections and create reports on work completed by contractors or other techs performing work on site.
Familiarity with CPR, first aid, hydraulic systems and tools, voltage test procedures, lock out -- tag out, infrared testers, multimeters, amp clamps, meghommeters, hand tools, torqueing and tensioning procedures/equipment, usage of lawnmowers, ATV's, and forklift/heavy equipment.
Able to identify, classify problems, evaluate data, establish facts and put forth educated conclusions and prioritize tasks.
Report all scheduled and unscheduled work performed.
Comfortable working at heights and the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; this includes climbing 300' wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. above head, and meeting the weight requirement of safety gear, 310 lbs. or less.
