Position Overview

RTC, a national environmental non-profit organization, promoting walking, bicycling, and non-motorized trails, is actively recruiting for a Trail Planner Coordinator. This is a fantastic job opportunity for someone who has a strong background and interest in active transportation and bikeable communities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop trail corridor and trail network concept plans and feasibility studies;
  • Review and summarize plans and planned trail development activity;
  • Engage with staff and local agencies regarding planned trail activity;
  • Maintain trail database with GIS software; and
  • Drafting email newsletters to partners; responsible for fieldwork (up to 50% travel required).

Qualifications

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in transportation/trail/bike-ped planning;
  • Understanding trail planning process;
  • Experience laying out and designing maps and graphics; 
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban planning or a related field is preferred but not required; knowledge of the trail development process;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills; proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required; and
  • Experience using GIS and the Adobe Creative Suite or other design software is a plus.
