Our mission is to drive policy and market development to create clean energy jobs, economic opportunities and affordable energy that benefits all of North Carolina.

Position Overview

NCSEA is seeking a talented and highly networked professional to lead coalition development and engagement to advance the awareness, understanding, support, and implementation of clean energy in North Carolina.

As an important member of NCSEA’s Transformation Through Policy team, the Sustainable Energy Campaign Coordinator will be accountable for (i) developing non-legislative plans, goals, strategies and tactics of NCSEA’s policy campaigns; (ii) building and coordinating engagement of diverse coalitions to inform, evolve and advance NCSEA’s policy goals; (iii) providing support for work of NCSEA’s Transformation Through Policy team; and (iv) coordinating and doing cross-cutting campaign-related work with NCSEA’s Market Innovation and Engagement teams both in Raleigh and statewide.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the NCSEA team in developing strategies, processes, and best practices to engage NCSEA’s members, partners, donors, decision makers, and the public in support of NCSEA’s policy campaigns
  • Conducting outreach to engage and educate targeted individuals and organizations, and enabling this engagement to inform and improve NCSEA’s understanding and effectiveness
  • Networking to build, convene and mobilize coalitions in support of NCSEA’s policy campaigns, including the planning and execution of daily campaign activities
  • Monitoring developments and actions that would impact NCSEA’s policy campaigns and collaboratively identifying and making real-time adjustments as situations evolve
  • Collaboratively developing communications with Engagement Team and coalition members that ensures consistency and advances sustainable energy
  • Conducting educational tours for targeted individuals and organizations
  • Providing support to other aspects of NCSEA’s policy campaigns, including government affairs and regulatory engagements
  • Assisting with the design and implementation of issue-based fundraising campaigns to ensure the integration of resources and consistency with NCSEA’s program, policy, and campaign goals

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a BS degree plus 3 or more years of relevant experience: Additional requirements include:

  • Functional and applied knowledge and experience in policy advocacy, policy communications, group facilitation, multi-team project management
  • Ability to conduct outreach, marketing, and educational activities across diverse constituent communities, impacted stakeholders, and politically diverse decision-makers
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating campaigns, coalitions, committees and volunteers
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • Expertise in convening stakeholders and partners, with demonstrated success in influencing perception and acceptance of campaign concepts
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite and MS Office 365
