Position Overview

Cosentini Associates is seeking a dynamic Sustainability Project Manager to join its growing sustainability team. This position handles all aspects of project management for clients seeking LEED and other green building or wellness certifications for large-scale commercial and multi-family residential buildings. Projects include high profile buildings with sophisticated design and development teams.

Applicants must have a minimum of five years direct work experience in sustainability in the built environment, exemplary project management skills, an in-depth knowledge of the LEED Rating System and the ability to concurrently champion sustainability efforts for multiple design and construction contracts. The role requires a detail oriented, self-starter with strong leadership and effective organizational skills.   Candidates must be deadline driven with the ability to excel whether working independently or collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage green building and wellness certification projects from inception through final certification using LEED and/or WELL for large-scale new construction developments
  • Provide clients with sustainable design and construction consulting expertise
  • Ensure sustainability initiatives are integrated into project construction documents and specifications
  • Educate ownership and project teams on green building trends and relevant sustainable design elements and technologies
  • Interface and develop relationships with green building certification organizations
  • Educate contractors on submittal requirements for certifications
  • Provide reviews of and comments on LEED specific submittals
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on changes to green building and wellness programs
  • Review and provide critical feedback on all project documentation including technical calculations
  • Ensure all deliverables are high quality and submitted on time
  • Mentor, collaborate with and delegate to the team’s Sustainability Coordinators
  • Research, analysis and report writing

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • B.S. or B.A. in engineering, architecture, building science or equivalent
  • LEED AP BD+C accreditation
  • Minimum five years’ work experience in sustainability within the building design and construction industry
  • Exemplary project management skills with an emphasis on schedule, scope, deliverables and budget
  • Management at a leadership level of green building projects from inception through final certification
  • Thorough knowledge of the LEED Rating System including LEED BD+C v3 (2009) and LEED v4 ND, NC, CS and IDC.
  • Ability to read and analyze drawings and specifications
  • Advanced Excel, Word, AutoCAD, and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
  • Exceptional time management skills

Preferred:

  • Leadership management experience with Living Building Challenge, Passive House and Enterprise Green Communities. Experience with BREEAM, Energy Star, Fitwell and Green Globes also a plus
  • Experience or technical understanding of whole building energy analysis
  • LEED EBOM project management experience
  • Direct experience with submitting LEED volume as well as campus and group projects using USGBC’s Application Guide for Multiple Buildings and Campus Buildings
  • MS/MA in engineering, architecture or environment/sustainability field
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems and/or HVAC design experience
