Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Energy and Sustainability Coordinator provides administrative and technical support to the Director of Energy and Sustainability and plays a supporting role to the campus Energy Manager.

Responsibilities

  • The incumbent assists the Energy Management unit with administrative and strategic program support in a wide range of energy and sustainability initiatives having a broad impact on Facilities and the University.
  • Performs research, development, implementation, and oversight of energy and water conservation projects.
  • Assists with: recycling and waste reduction programs, educational outreach and behavioral change initiatives, incentive and rebate processing.
  • Processes invoices and recharge billing; tracks and reports sustainability and greenhouse gas; plans and coordinates climate actions.
  • Monitors sustainability rating and certification of buildings and/or the campus.
  • Plans and coordinates sustainability events.
  • Organizes support of Campus as a Living Lab projects.
  • Is responsible for and public relations, and marketing of campus sustainability efforts.
  • Interfaces with utility representatives, Physical Plant and Facilities Planning representatives, consultants, contractors, campus auxiliary organizations, students, faculty, staff, and administrators; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Sustainable Development, Business or other related field.
  • Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for required education, on a year for year basis.
  • Equivalent to 2 years of full-time, technical, analytical, or administrative experience, preferably in the field of sustainability and/or energy management.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of sustainability certification programs and rating systems related to facilities operations and development including: USGBC LEED and AASHE STARS.
  • Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of engineering units related to power, energy, flow, and volume; ability to perform unit conversions.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to: work in a team environment; interact and communicate in an effective, dependable, tactful and diplomatic manner; work independently under general supervision; work well under pressure of deadlines and deal with frequent interruptions in a fast paced environment in a pleasant, professional and efficient manner.
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, database, email, calendaring, presentation, web design, graphics software and thorough knowledge of spreadsheets; ability to create, troubleshoot, and modify advanced equations, pivot tables, charts and graphs.
  • Strong math skills and ability to perform accurate computations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.

Compensation:  $3288 - $5695 per month. The anticipated hiring range: $3288 - $4466, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The university offers an excellent benefits package.
