Position Overview

O'Brien & Gere is currently seeking a Staff Geologist for our Syracuse, NY office.

Responsibilities

 The successful candidate will be responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with investigation team and under the direction of senior scientists/engineers in implementing field programs
  • Perform field tasks / sampling and field documentation as part of environmental investigation and remediation projects at primarily industrial / hazardous waste sites in NY, PA, NJ and Northeastern US
  • Oversight of drilling subcontractors performing field work and coordination with laboratories for sample analyses
  • Perform data entry / data management using database and Microsoft Excel programs
  • Contribute to preparation of reports and other documentation; assist in technical evaluations of data commensurate with technical skills
  • Individual must be capable of completing field work with basic supervision 

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Geology/Hydrogeology
  • 0-2 years experience of technical and field investigation experience, including soil/ground water sampling techniques for PA, NJ, and USEPA projects
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • OSHA 40-hour certification a plus (not required)
