Position Overview

Under the direction of the CEO, the Recruitment & Training Coordinator will manage recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of Ocean Institute staff. The individual will also be responsible for creating bi-weekly staffing schedules for all education departments and ensuring there are adequate staff available to meet each department's needs.

Additionally, the Recruitment & Training Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining training records and a database of staff certifications. The individual will also be responsible for staff incentives and appreciation events including (but not limited to) monthly birthday recognition, end of season parties, safety incentives, and the Ocean Institute's employee of the month program.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates recruitment, hiring, and onboarding needs
  • Participates in job fairs and other community recruiting events
  • Ensures that Ocean institute has enough instructional staff to meet each department's needs as they fluctuate seasonally
  • Manages procurement and maintenance of OI uniform supply
  • Responsible for purchasing general office supplies
  • Creates a bi weekly staffing schedule that ensures adequate staffing for programs
  • Handles time off and shift change requests
  • Participates on the Ocean Institute's annual American Camping Association accreditation
  • Coordinates employee training with department heads, managers, and human resources
  • Partners with human resources on various projects, as needed
  • Maintains records of required certifications and ensures that there are no lapses in coverage
  • Manages the Ocean Institute's safety incentive program and sends out regular safety reminders
  • Plans and executes employee appreciation events including monthly birthday parties, end of season celebrations
  • Coordinates with department heads to ensure that an employee of the month is recognized regularly

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in general office coordination, recruitment, and/or training
  • Must be highly organized and able to multitask
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and establish a strong rapport with staff
  • Must be able to effectively understand and find solutions for complex departmental coverage needs
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be deadline-oriented and able to complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Must be familiar with basic computer programs including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and database management preferred
