Position Overview

North Wind Resource Consulting is seeking candidates for the position of Project Manager/Biologist in Phoenix, Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Manage biology and/or multidisciplinary projects, perform/manage biological field studies, and interact directly with clients.
  • Develop field strategies, obtain permits as necessary, recommend mitigation measures, and prepare/review technical reports.
  • An example of field studies includes: nesting bird surveys, invasive/noxious weed surveys, special status species surveys, construction monitoring, and data collection.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years experience as a professional biologist in Arizona.
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology or closely related field.
  • Experience with avian species and electrical transmission/distribution lines.
  • Knowledgeable of T/E species in Arizona and sensitive species of various federal and state agencies operating in Arizona.
  • Experience working with Tribes.
  • Ability to perform field survey and monitoring.
  • Strong writing skills; previous experience writing BAs/BEs.
  • Preparing and employing Avian Protection Plans.
  • Experience coordinating with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
  • May be required to pass a background check for government network access.
  • Additional desirable skills include collecting data for jurisdictional delineations, working with federal irrigation projects, familiarity with  GPS/GIS applications, and assisting on NEPA projects.
  • Any species-specific trainings or certifications are a plus.
