Position Overview

CALSTART has an immediate opening for a highly-motivated person to join our team as a Project Manager. This is an exciting time for building the clean transportation technology industry and the opportunity to improve air quality, prevent climate change, and create jobs. The Project Manager will help develop, support, and manage high impact clean transportation projects.

Note: This full-time e position will be based in the CALSTART solar powered headquarters in Pasadena, California. Locating at an alternate CALSTART office negotiable.

Responsibilities

We seek a Project Manager who demonstrates leadership, an eagerness to learn and grow, and strive for excellence. He or she will have the necessary skills to manage a variety of advanced transportation projects and must be able to perform the following tasks with strong competency:

  • Managing Technology Partnerships;
  • Developing detailed Work plans and Budgets
  • Assigning team members and managing tasks and timelines;
  • Conducting primary and secondary research;
  • Managing surveys and performing analysis;
  • Producing high quality reports and presentations;
  • Supporting and organizing meetings, webinars and workshops that engage stakeholders; and
  • Making presentations before stakeholder groups.

Qualifications 

Necessary Skills and Experience

  • The candidate must have 3 to 5 years of project management experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or technical field and/or a high level of competence with and understanding of technologies and technical issues.
  • A solid understanding of clean transportation technologies and fuels is preferred.
  • Candidate must have a high degree of proficiency in written and oral communications and have the capability of presenting to and working with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • The candidate must work well in a team environment, display personal initiative and be driven by a passion for the clean transportation industry.
  • It is essential that the candidate be well organized and have impressive project management capabilities.
  • The candidate should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a high degree of competence in Word, PowerPoint and Excel and be extremely comfortable with the use of spreadsheets. 
  • The candidate must also be able to demonstrate initiative, independently manage time, and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • A strong attention to detail will be required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is a requirement for this position.

Additional Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are highly preferred or would open additional opportunities. They will be viewed favorably and will provide an advantage:

  • Certificate or training in program management.
  • Specific knowledge of and expertise with advanced transportation technologies, infrastructure or fuels.
  • Knowledge of life-cycle cost analysis and payback analyses.
  • Managing multiple projects.
  • Managing working group activities.
  • Collecting vehicle field performance data and performing detailed data analyses.

Compensation and Benefits

CALSTART offers a strong compensation package. In addition to a competitive salary, CALSTART currently offers employees a company-paid health plan including dental and vision care. The compensation plan also includes a retirement plan equivalent to 8 percent of the annual salary. CALSTART allows for flexible work hours as appropriate, and provides funding for transit. The organization also has a strong interest in employee growth and skills development.
