We are proud to introduce a new name to represent our organization – Holden Forests & Gardens. The name is an outgrowth of our recently completed strategic plan which lays out a vision to more deeply engage visitors to our two campuses and also use our combined resources to have a greater impact in the community. Establishing a name for the overall organization reflects this broader vision.
Holden Forests & Gardens includes Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio (3,600 acres) and Cleveland Botanical Garden (20 gardens on 10 acres); together, they comprise 12th largest public garden in the United States.
Position Overview
The CEO reports to 40-member board; 80 FT/45 PT staff, 100 seasonal; 1,000+ volunteers. Operating budget $13.5MM, supported by $125+MM endowment.
The CEO has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs and execution of its mission and financial objectives.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate has proven track record of success as a key leader of a comparably-sized arboretum, botanical garden, natural history museum or other nonprofit organization focused on the natural world; or, experience as a “#2” or other senior-level executive at a larger like organization.
- Bachelors required; advanced degree (MBA or PhD) strongly preferred.
