~ The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama. ~

The AWF was established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of our wildlife and natural resources and to ensure a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians. AWF headquarters is located at Lanark in Millbrook, Alabama. Lanark contains five distinct destinations: AWF Headquarters, Historic Lanark, Lanark Pavilion, the Alabama Nature Center and the NaturePlex.

Position Overview

The Alabama Wildlife Federation is seeking creative, competent, motivated, well-organized outdoor leaders who want to share their passion for the outdoors with Alabama’s youth.

Positions Include: Fall, Spring & Summer Field Trips | Afterschool Programs

Hours: Flexible and program dependent

Responsibilities

  • Part-time naturalist are responsible for teaching life science and social science education programs to small groups of children and adults.
  • The Naturalist’s goals are to encourage students’ awareness and appreciation of the environment, broaden the students’ knowledge of science concepts, and foster students’ commitment to the protection of the natural environment.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be in an education or natural resource related field.
  • Experience leading school groups or performing conservation-related programs is recommended but not required.
