ecoPartners, a global leader in ecosystem project development, works with landowners and project developers to build successful forest carbon offset projects. ecoPartners specializes in the technical aspects of project design, planning and development: remote sensing, biometrics and accounting methodologies. ~

ecoPartners is working with numerous landowners to implement sustainable forest management practices and to monetize the resulting value of sequestering carbon.

We are actively developing projects in Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Panama and Ecuador. We have served as technical consultant for about half of all validated and verified REDD projects to date, accounting for over 12 million tons of verified carbon reductions on 1.7 million hectares worldwide.

Position Overview

ecoPartners is hiring an Origination Forester to join our start-up team located in Portland, Oregon. The Forester’s primary responsibility is to originate carbon offset projects in the Portland area by identifying potential landowners and cultivating long-term relationships. The Manager works closely with program staff and directors to ensure origination, landowner eligibility for Forest Carbon Works and successful project verification.

Frequent domestic travel to potential project sites within the Portland vicinity is require. The successful applicant will be required to maintain a home office in the Portland area and will be provided a company vehicle for work-related travel.

Responsibilities

Specific tasks include:

  • The execution of an origination plan;
  • Meeting landowners at project sites;
  • Training landowners to use the Carbon Works App;
  • Collection of field data using the Carbon Works App;
  • Collection of supplemental data including site productivity and geospatial data; Collection of landowner documentation; coordination with regional partners; and
  • The facilitation of third-party audits.  

Ideal Qualifications

  • Are organized and attentive to detail.
  • Are able to manage their time and others’ time effectively.
  • Are able to take direction and disseminate directions to others.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in forestry.
  • Have two or more years’ experience in forest measurement.
  • Have interest in ecosystem conservation, natural resources, or environmental protection.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Are proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Are comfortable with correspondence, email, and interpersonal interactions in a business environment.
  • Possess a valid (non-commercial) driver’s license.
  • Are able and willing to work long field days in rugged terrain.
