Position Overview

Based in BSR’s Copenhagen or Paris office, the Manager will play a key role in strengthening and deepening relationships with current and future BSR members in the transport and logistics industry and will be a key part of BSR’s global Infrastructure and Finance Team. In particular, the Manager will play an important role developing, managing, and scaling BSR’s single-company engagements and business-led collaborations in the sector in Europe and globally (e.g. Clean Cargo Working Group, Green Freight Asia and Europe, the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network).

Responsibilities

  • Member Services: The Manager will work with BSR members on an individual and collective basis to ensure that the membership value proposition is met. This requires close cooperation with other BSR departments, industry practices, and regions across the world. The Manager will do the same for participants involved in the collaborations.
  • Business Development: The Manager will represent BSR to the corporate sector and other key stakeholders in the transportation and logistics industry to be determined based on experiences and skills in close cooperation with relevant BSR global industry leaders and practices. He or she will assume responsibility for implementation of the global industry strategies in the EMEA region and for account relationship management for identified members. He or she will also be responsible for developing business opportunities with other companies in the priority industries.
  • External Representation: The Manager will represent BSR to an external audience by: meeting with key industry stakeholders; attending and presenting at industry conferences; and writing occasional publications.
  • Project Implementation: The Manager will assume responsibility for managing advisory services projects with members and non-members.
  • Collaboration Management: The Manager will assume responsibility for managing collaborative initiatives work, particularly in the transportation and logistics industry. The Manager will contribute to BSR’s Collaborations Team, who lead the overall development and implementation of BSR’s more than 20 global collaborative initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, environmental management and engineering and/or sustainability/CSR
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more material sustainability areas of the transportation and logistics industry (e.g. climate change, human rights, inclusive economy, supply chain sustainability, sustainability management, women’s empowerment)
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience with preference from either a consulting firm and/or industry (e.g. a CSR/sustainability department, corporate affairs or business development)
  • Industry expertise in transportation and logistics
  • Strong insight into European business and business culture
  • Proven and demonstrable track record of success in working with business in a client/customer-facing position
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience leading or working in collaborations among large companies
  • Experience within the network of green freight logistics initiatives and community in Europe and beyond
  • Fluent in English; additional European language skills are strongly encouraged.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with members and other companies
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to undertake business travel up to 40 percent time
