Position Overview

We are currently seeking an onsite Leader to direct utility scale solar installations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Manager during the construction phase to manage, and forecast the following: labor, logistics, equipment, materials, schedule and general conditions.
  • Oversee and coordinate the construction activity on assigned projects.
  • Provide routine reporting to the associated management team - both written and verbal. This includes daily reports, RFI's, updating project schedules, change orders, inspection reports, Safety and QC, and look ahead.
  • Thorough review and understanding of project documents including; plans, specifications, contracts, purchase orders, submittals, installation manuals, code books, proposals, technical descriptions, OSHA and safety, SWPPP etc.
  • Provide technical leadership for on-site field administration, supervision and management for all construction operations with the goal for achieving on-budget and on-schedule completion.
  • Manage a team of subcontractors and craftsman from various trades during all construction activity.
  • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers to clarify discrepancies using a documented RFI system.
  • Coordinate with material procurement by Project Manager and oversee inventory of received materials.
  • Proactively procure, materials, services, and equipment required to complete job scope in a timely, compliant, and efficient manner.
  • Implement a quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) program. Coordinate inspections as needed.
  • Implement a safety program governing all site safety. If a project has a dedicated safety officer, oversee safety officer's implementation of a safety program.
  • Ensure that all requirements of insurance, safety, labor relations, and Equal Employment Opportunity are met.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, with a solar background and associated construction management skills and experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, equivalent technical or military education and experience is also desirable but not required. We would also consider 5-10 years of solar construction work, with the right balance of skills.
  • Understanding, knowledge and experience with AC and DC electrical systems, wiring and conduit installation, familiarity with civil and structural trade practices and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code, familiarity with the International Building Code and other related codes and standards directly related to electrical or photovoltaic systems. Hands-on electrical or solar construction background is required.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction industry safety course is required.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, proactive and committed to excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and customers.
  • Excellent PC computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
  • Highly organized and skillful at working on multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the year with extended stays at job sites during the construction process.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to walk a lot, climb stairs, work in cot and hot environments.
  • A "Can Do" positive attitude, coupled with superior problem-solving skills.
