The South Carolina Coastal Conservation League (“the League”) seeks an inspiring, entrepreneurial, and visionary leader to serve as its next Executive Director. Seeking a successor to its iconic founding Executive Director, the League aims to honor its past while moving strategically into its future. This is a rare opportunity to provide vision and leadership to a highly-respected and successful organization that touches the lives of citizens in South Carolina and beyond.

Since its launch in 1989, the League has thrived under the leadership of founder Dana Beach. Beach has systematically built a highly-effective and nimble eco-political organization. Located in a breathtakingly beautiful coastal region that attracts people and development, the League is faced with the challenge of ensuring that growth benefits their communities, while conserving their pristine rural areas.

This is the driving force behind the League's mission, leading the institution to be on the front lines of virtually every big conservation issue in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Beach is leaving the League in an excellent position, including a dedicated team and a strong financial base. The new Executive Director will have the support of an engaged and accomplished Board of Directors, an experienced senior management team, and a knowledgeable, passionate staff.

The ideal candidate will be an outcomes-focused executive who displays critical judgment while pursuing opportunities, allowing the League to have continuing impact on conservation issues critical to the region. The League seeks a fearless leader, with experience in strategic planning and implementation, who has the ability to focus on targeted priorities, a flair for building and maintaining relationships, and a successful track record in fundraising. A gifted communicator, the Executive Director will build and diversify the League's constituency while developing and leveraging a talented staff to achieve organizational goals.

The successful candidate will thrive in this demanding and rewarding position in support of a compelling mission. Unquestionable integrity and personal values are essential, and a hunger for action and entrepreneurship is critical for success in this role. The next Executive Director does not have to be from South Carolina, but will have an understanding of regional nuance, a great appreciation for southern culture, a love of the Lowcountry, and a desire to tackle pressing conservation issues.
