Position Overview

Paladino and Company, a leader in sustainability consulting, is looking for an accomplished Energy Modeler to join our team in either our McLean, Virginia or Seattle, Washington offices!

To be successful in this job you must be methodical, disciplined, knowledgeable, and analytical while operating as an imaginative, engaged, productive, and perceptive member of our organization. You must have quality experience with energy modeling as a technician, be proficient with building modeling software, and have exceptional communication abilities when relating complex information.

Additionally, you must have 4+ years of direct energy modeling and simulation experience with a deep understanding of building systems and associated technical codes, technical execution experience in commercial real estate industry with demonstrated ability to participate in multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.  If this is you, and can show us, you could be a great fit for our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the energy modeling and daylighting analysis tasks using eQuest and IES software on large, complex buildings with the goal of documenting results for owners, designers, code compliance officials, and/or in conjunction with LEED or other building certifications.
  • Perform Life Cycle Cost Analyses, water balance studies, and cogitative performance studies using Paladino’s proprietary Excel based tools.
  • Perform technical analysis for innovative sustainable strategies to support proof of concept, system sizing/optimization, and/or operational best practice development.
  • Interface directly with clients to report results and make technical recommendations on behalf of other Paladino project managers including creating and delivering presentations and preparing detailed reports that document findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare and meet all commitments on scope, quality and schedule made collaboratively with other Paladino project managers and/or clients on a weekly basis.
  • Actively participate in quality control process to manage and maintain integrity and accuracy in all deliverables and alignment to Paladino standards.
  • Participate in the development of technical scopes of work during business development efforts.
  • Proactively engage with and participate in multiple projects simultaneously, rapidly flexing project priorities on a weekly basis.
  • Complete invoicing and financial projections duties for all simulation tasks on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in thought leadership activities, such as authoring papers, presenting at conferences, and creating content for the Paladino Blog.

Qualifications

  • Expert level energy modeling and daylighting software (eQuest and/or IES).
  • A degree in Building Science, Engineering, Architecture, or other applicable technical degree.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (ASHRAE 90.1, 55, 62.1 & 62.2, Title 24, local code compliance, etc.) and a deep understanding of building systems.
  • Excellent technical writing, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of technical project energy modeling and simulation experience.
  • 2+years of project management demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects on schedule.
  • 2+ years working within a collaborative environment with demonstrated implementation of innovative and advanced building technologies.
  • 2+ years’ experience with LEED EAc1 and/or Code Compliance documentation.
