Equally diverse, our services include public policy and market support, public education and outreach, and coalition building.
ACE NY is committed to the promotion of clean, renewable electricity technologies and energy efficiency in New York State in order to increase energy diversity and security, boost economic development, improve public health and reduce air pollution.
Position Overview
ACE NY is seeking a full-time Clean Energy Advocate to be based in Albany, NY with the following duties and responsibilities:
- Advocate for policies to support the development and permitting of new renewable energy resources at relevant New York State agencies and the Legislature.
- Track and analyze progress in the development of the renewable energy sector, and identify and address barriers to siting and permitting; track implementation of the Renewable Energy Standard (RES), NY-Sun program, and other Clean Energy Fund programs that support renewable energy.
- Participate in proceedings at the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) on behalf of ACE NY that address renewable energy, such as the Clean Energy Standard proceeding, the Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) proceeding, and the Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) proceeding.
- Liaison with other environmental organizations and trade organizations regarding wind and solar policy, business opportunities for renewables, and state-level policies to support renewable energy.
- Engage in occasional travel, mostly within New York State, in support of the ACE NY mission.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in energy policy, environmental science or policy, or a closely related field: and have more than 3 years of experience in a related position either in an advocacy role, with a renewable energy firm, or in government;
- Candidates will ideally have strong knowledge of wind and solar policy;
- Experience with New York government;
- Good writing and communication skills;
- A passion for clean energy; and
- An interest in the management of 501©(3) organizations.
