~ The College of Liberal Studies (CLS) includes departments and programs in the humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies, as well as the School of Arts and Communication. CLS continues the established liberal studies tradition of providing many curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree. ~

Position Overview

The Environmental Studies Program in the College of Liberal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse seeks qualified candidates for the position of Associate Lecturer. This is a full time (100%) academic year position beginning August 28, 2017.

Environmental Studies offers an interdisciplinary minor, which includes courses in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. In our classes, we bring together students from majors across the university to explore environmental issues. The bluffs, wetlands, and farms of the La Crosse area provide a living laboratory for our class field trips and student projects.

Our new colleague will teach several sections of Introduction to Environmental Studies each semester, as well as upper level courses in environmental studies (four total sections per semester, two or three course preparations). Teaching opportunities will include the option to develop new special topics courses. Instructional Academic Staff at UWL are eligible for promotion, and the position includes service activities and professional development.

Qualifications

Master's degree in environmental studies or a related area, teaching experience, and expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Arts
  • Humanities
  • Social sciences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and previous college-level teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach Environmental Sustainability and to promote campus sustainability initiatives.
