Position Overview

Bright Power is searching for an experienced manager to lead a team of dedicated and talented Energy Analysts to provide insightful analysis and an excellent customer experience, leading to deep, ongoing client relationships and successful energy efficiency projects.

The Team you would Lead:

The Energy Analysis team directly engages with clients – primarily multifamily real estate owners and managers – to help them understand energy and water performance in their portfolios, prioritize opportunities for saving energy, water, and money, and track projects to ensure they perform as expected. Energy Analysts work primarily within the EnergyScoreCards subscription service, which includes an online energy and water benchmarking and analysis software developed by Bright Power along with dedicated, hands-on support from our Energy Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee all personnel in the Energy Analysis team and review all work that originates within the team.
    • Ensure that employees are fulfilling their responsibilities, both with regard to project deliverables and more general business obligations.
      • e.g. internal reporting, satisfactory time management, and appropriate client communication.
    • Work closely with Energy Analysts to further develop their technical and communication skills and maintain a collaborative culture.
  • Review deliverables produced within the team and provide quality control with regard to the fulfillment of the contracted scope of work.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and maintenance of standardized methods, tools, and templates specifically relevant to the work of the team.
    • Create and maintain processes and tools to help Energy Analysts perform their work efficiently while meeting the needs of the company and the clients.
    • Provide support to and communication with other Bright Power departments, including Account Management, Marketing, and Engineering support, delegating Energy Analysts to specific tasks as needed.
    • Ensure that Specialists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the Energy Analysis team maintain documentation for processes and products related to Specialist/SME’s area of expertise.
    • Identify and/or discuss new product opportunities with Account Managers and Leadership Team.
  • Indirectly manage all projects within the team including:
    • Working with the Energy Analysts to establish project and milestone level budget, timeline, staffing, and deliverables.
    • Scheduling check-ins with Energy Analysts as needed to ensure that they are within the specified budget and following the agreed upon timeline.
  • Schedule and lead recurring meetings with the entire team as well as check in meetings with individual members of the team.
    • Support the growth of Energy Analysts and Senior Energy Analysts.
  • Meet revenue and client retention goals, oversee timely billing, and communicate about deviations from projections in terms of revenue and costs.
  • Audit the resources needed to complete the work of the team as needed, but at least on a quarterly basis, and report findings to the VP.
    • Identify the need for new staff within the team, manage the solicitation of applications, hold interviews, and select new hires with the assistance of the VP.
      • Oversee the development of new hire on-boarding and training protocol specific to the team.
      • Ensure that new hires are provided with the appropriate and necessary degree of on-boarding and training.
  • Establish workflows for each service offered within the team.
  • Represent the Energy Analysis team in management meetings and work with other members of the Leadership Team to improve coordination and collaboration between Energy Analysts and other teams, to optimize internal operations and to better serve our clients.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in science, engineering, or similar technical field from an accredited four year college or university; or 4-6 years related experience.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to foster collaboration, track record for implementing functional processes to improve work quality and efficiency.
  • Comfort and confidence working in a technical environment.

Skills Preferred:

  • Background in energy-related industry.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience working with a software development team to inform product strategy.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • SQL and/or Python.
