As the category leader, Amazing Grass sells and distributes a broad range of plant-based nutritional products though premium retailers such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger, Costco, Target and Amazon.

Position Overview

This role is accountable for achieving sales objectives set by EVP, Sales. Geographic responsibility spans from WA to TX and West of the Mississippi River. The position has geographical accountability for managing regional direct customers, developing/executing retail merchandising activities and managing broker representatives (direct and retail).

As a retail-driven brand, a strong retail focus and visual presence is necessary to insure achievement of company merchandising, shelving and pricing standards. Finally, the West Regional Sales Manager is required to allocate the necessary administrative time to insure timely completion of activities toward achievement of metrics including accounts receivable, invoice accuracy and evaluation of broker teams.

The position is home-office based; location is flexible but must be in a large metropolitan area on the West Coast. The company headquarters is located in Newport Beach, CA. The West Regional Sales Manager reports to the Executive Vice President of Sales.

Responsibilities

Sales Management:

  • Achieve assigned quarterly and annual revenue goals by product group for direct accounts.
  • Lead and manage direct broker representatives toward achievement of assigned quarterly and annual revenue goals.

Direct Account Management:

  • Cascade headquarter-developed marketing programs to direct accounts, collaborating with the retailer and Amazing Grass marketing to customize events as possible/necessary.
  • Timely and complete presentation and acceptance of new items.
  • Ongoing relationship-building with key stakeholders and decision makers at assigned accounts, maintaining &/or enhancing Amazing Grass’ position as a preferred vendor.
  • Timely and accurate communication with Sales and Marketing Analyst of promotional allowances with a goal of >95% invoice accuracy (net pricing/promotional pricing).

Retail Management:

  • Lead and manage direct and broker representative team in retail execution of pricing, shelving and merchandising objectives.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders/decision-makers at the retail level to insure preferred vendor treatment with respect to merchandising and shelving.

Administrative:

  • Complete required sales reporting activities.
  • Timely forecasting of extraordinary volume requirements.
  • Complete and accurate submission of requests for headquarters support (marketing, finance, supply chain).
  • Timely, complete and accurate submission of promotional discounts.
  • Timely response to headquarter requests for support in the areas of Accounts Receivables, Forecasting or competitive.
  • Ongoing communication of significant competitive activity to Sales and Marketing leadership.

Sales Team Support:

  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. If needed, enlist support of EVP, Sales to resolve issues.
  • Customer Service mindset, with prompt response to internal or external customer needs, communicating positively in challenging situations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years consumer products experience is required.
  • Leadership Skills - The ability to motivate, lead and evaluate direct and retail brokers. Exploit strengths and react appropriately to weaknesses.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills and positive attitude a must.
  • Relevant industry experience required.
  • The company competes in fast moving consumer goods, with primary customers such as Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe, GNC and Amazon.
  • Persuasive Selling Skills - Ability to build and maintain customer and consumer relationships based on fact-based selling of product benefits, leading to development of an expanded customer base and growth of the existing base.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills.
  • Ability to develop and present promotional plans and product information to retail stakeholders.
  • The candidate must be skilled in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
