Position Overview

We are looking for an entry level Environmental Technician to add to our team in Charlotte NC, to support various projects/clients. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks in support of the environmental remediation professional staff including collection of environmental samples (e.g., groundwater, soil, sediment, and air) for laboratory analysis.

Work assignments may be in the office and/or at field sites. A willingness to travel to a variety of field locations in the region is essential. Training will be provided.

No relocation is provided for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs non-routine and occasionally heavy labor tasks related to on-site industrial waste, hazardous waste, field environmental surveys, or operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Collects samples and maintains documentation in record logs.
  • Operates trucks, pumps, vacuum equipment, generators, and other machinery/equipment related to environmental sampling.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate logs of activities.
  • Tests, calibrates, repairs, and modifies control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations under general supervision.
  • Some assignments are undertaken independently.
  • Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings.
  • May initiate reports and/or establish and maintain logs and records.
  • Collects samples and maintain documentation in record logs.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent.
  • Prefer 6 months to 3 years experience, performing similar technician type of functions, including field sampling, but will consider candidates with no experience.
  • Must be working to work outside at field/remediation sites and perform related field duties.
  • Valid driver’s license required. Completion of a 40-hour OSHA training course will be required and must be able to pass, background check and drug test.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to lift and carry 30+ pounds; pull, stand, and work in confined spaces; walk and/or crouch for various periods of time; and work under inclement weather conditions.
  • Basic mechanical ability.
  • Familiarity with software packages typically used in geological analyses is preferred.
  • Aptitude to learn fundamental tasks and testing techniques related to operations.
