ACE Wind Technician

Position Overview

ALLETE Clean Energy is currently seeking an ACE Wind Technician. Entry level to experienced technicians will be considered for this position.  

Responsibilities

• Under direct to limited direction, performs routine to highly skilled preventative maintenance trouble shooting and repair activities consistent with policies and procedures on wind turbines.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines and aspects of heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.
• Attends and / or coordinates regular safety meetings and follows appropriate company safety and environmental policies.
• Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and adheres to quality guidelines.
• Must be able to meet the physical, mental, and environmental demands of the position.

Qualifications

Requirements of Work:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.
• Basic understanding of mathematics.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to understand problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and report them to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.
• Ability to work in mechanically and electrically oriented situations.
• Basic knowledge of the use of various hand tools.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a wind technology program preferred.

Required Experience:

• No experience required for entry level, directly related experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s license required.
• Must be able to meet the physical/mental/environmental demands of the position.
• This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
