~ Located on the southeast Atlantic coast in Brunswick, midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida, the College of Coastal Georgia is an undergraduate college in the University System of Georgia. ~

Position Overview

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Environmental Science within the department of Natural Sciences. Pending budget approval, this appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2017. This position is an academic year (10 month) appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include developing and teaching courses to support a new Environmental Sciences major, including introductory level courses in environmental and earth science and upper division courses in areas such as GIS, Global Climate Change, Coastal Management, Oceanography, Coastal Geomorphology, and/or Hydrology, as well as advising and participation in departmental and college committees.
  • The candidate will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, a commitment to professional development and scholarship as defined by Boyer (1997), and to serving students in a collegiate setting.
  • The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach both day and evening courses at the Brunswick campus or Camden Center location as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Training:

  • Ph.D. in Environmental Science or Earth Sciences or related field from a regionally-accredited institution by the start date of August 1, 2017.
  • Experience Teaching Undergraduate courses in a variety of fields related to Environmental Science.
  • The candidate will have a broad background in environmental and earth sciences.
  • Based on the University system of Georgia’s policy, official sealed transcripts must be provided upon offer and acceptance of all Faculty positions.

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

  • Recent experience teaching undergraduate courses for 12 months or more.
  • Advising experience for undergraduates.
  • Experience teaching GIS.
