~ The California Air Resources Board's (CARB) mission is to promote and protect California’s public health, welfare, and ecological resources by reducing air pollution while recognizing and considering the effects on the state’s economy. Some of the CARB’s highest priorities are examining how air pollutants, climate change, and public policy impact public health. ~

CARB is charged with protecting the public from the harmful effects of air pollution and developing programs and actions to fight climate change. From requirements for clean cars and fuels to adopting innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, California has pioneered a range of effective approaches that have set the standard for effective air and climate programs for the nation, and the world.

Position Overview

CARB is seeking an individual with expertise in the health impacts of air pollution exposure or expertise in a related health science, a strong background in statistical analysis, and a desire to work in a nationally and internationally recognized air pollution control agency. 

The Air Pollution Specialist will work with a diverse team of CARB scientists on in-house studies and extramural research that helps to provide the information used as the basis of many of CARB’s air pollution and climate change regulatory activities.

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities of the candidate will include work on research projects that investigate issues related to the health impacts of air pollution statewide, at the regional level, and in local communities.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will investigate ways that sustainable community design can affect air pollution exposures and public health.
  • Effective communication of health research results to management, the general public, local air districts, and Members of the Board is an essential component of this position.

Compensation

  • $4,651.00 - $9,000.00
