Position Overview

The DC Commercial PV Installer is responsible for supporting the Direct Current ("DC") component of commercial PV project implementation. This person supports the Lead DC Commercial Installer with project installation including layout review, roof attachment, racking and module assembly, combiner box installation, homerun wiring, and voltage testing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure crew and job site safety
  • Ensure quality DC installations based on system design specifications
  • Ensure all necessary materials and tools arrive to the job site
  • Ensure that layout, roof attachment, racking and module assembly, combiner box installation, homerun wiring, and voltage testing meets expected quality standards
  • Assist DC Lead with delivery of installation documentation in a timely manner
  • Assist DC Lead with mobilization and crane operations (as applicable) at the beginning and end of projects
  • Support DC tool management and proper maintenance of DC install vehicle

Essential Functions (Specific Tasks/Deliverables):

  • Stage materials and tools and load vans
  • Perform quality roof layouts per plans
  • Assemble racking, mounting systems and modules per specification
  • Ground and wire modules and combiner box
  • Assist with general ground support
  • Assist with general site preparation and clean up

Standards & Expectations:

  • Develop skills and knowledge in solar PV installations
  • Assure installations are above industry quality standards
  • Willing to travel 50-75% of the year to remote projects located 3-7 hours from Denver, CO

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous experience installing solar PV on the DC side of the system
  • Previous experience on a commercial construction site
  • Understanding of tool use and basic familiarity with construction practices
  • Comfortably able to lift 75lbs, climb ladders, work with tools, and work on roof tops in varying temperatures
  • Excellent teamwork skills ability to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making
  • Good at problem-solving
  • Highly organized & have ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with others
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, community environment
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
  • Proficient with computers and the following applications: Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

Valued but not required skills & experience:

  • Fork lift, man lift, crane rigging and signaling certified
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA Subpart M Fall Protection Requirements
  • Basic experience installing solar PV on the AC side of the system
  • Previous experience as a foreman or crew lead
  • Ability to read and understand field layouts and one line diagrams
  • Understanding of grid-tied PV system design
  • Understanding of electrical wire sizing and conduit connections
  • Bachelor's degree
  • NABCEP Certified
