Position Overview

Build a legacy - your legacy with WSB & Associates, Inc., named to the StarTribune's Top Workplaces in Minnesota for the fifth consecutive year and the Zweig Group Hot Firm List for the fourth consecutive year. We are seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Minneapolis or St. Paul office.

Responsibilities

  •  You will work in both the field and the office completing various phases of environmental projects including planning, oversight, and reporting.
  • This could include due diligence environmental review and environmental mitigation for public and private development and infrastructure projects; overseeing environmental compliance on construction and mitigation projects; conducting Phase I or Phase II site assessments; MPCA Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup projects; construction excavation monitoring; various media sample collection and analyses; Response Action Planning; hazardous material surveys; and remediation.
  • Activities may include stormwater management, environmental permitting, asbestos material sampling.
  • You will collect environmental data, write technical reports, coordinate with a team, act as an owner’s representative between contractors, local, state and federal agencies and bring a collaborative attitude to your work.
  • Travel within the state with occasional out of state work is a requirement of this position.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will bring 2 or more years of experience with the activities provided above.
  • In addition, current Asbestos Building Inspector Certification and 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification is desired.
  • Asbestos Site Supervisor is also preferred.
  • Experience with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and Minnesota Department of Transportation is a benefit.
  • You will have a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, chemistry, biology, natural resources, soil science or comparable field from an accredited school.
  • You will also have experience with some or all of the following: GIS, report writing, and/or working knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental permitting, and environmental health and safety.
  • You must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
