Position Overview

The Project Engineer is responsible for their productivity and technical work and will report directly to a Project Director. The position will be accountable for their technical work and project activities including conformance with an approved scope and budget on a project by project basis. The position will also serve as a resource and team member to foster a culture focused on delivering high quality technical services as the leading Trusted Advisor in our industry.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently review, interpret, and apply federal and state environmental regulations
  • Prepare regulatory summaries and applicability evaluations or environmental regulations as it relates to supporting project activities
  • Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Perform activities in support of various air permitting activities such as: performing emissions calculations, FESOP/Title V permitting, State permitting, New Source Review and PSD air permitting, and NSPS, NESHAP, RACT, BACT and MACT issues
  • Preparing calculations and evaluating regulations to prepare various environmental compliance reports or permit applications such as Form R, Tier I/II, Storm Water Permitting and SWPPPs, SPCC, Facility Response Plans, RMP plans, etc.
  • Support other Project Managers and share your geographical presence and technical strengths within the Environmental Practice Group and across Practice Groups
  • Manage client communications and project administration including deliverable quality assurance/quality control reviews, project budget, invoicing, and schedule maintenance
  • Assist and support Environmental Practice Group staff in support of business development activities, and other professional development activities such as the preparation of environmental briefs, attending conferences, and developing and coordinating the issuance of qualifications packages, etc.
  • Assist in preparing proposals to include Scope of Work, Cost Estimate and Schedule development
  • Maintain a determined billable and utilization goal per week
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings to evaluate workload for the group
  • Participate and adhere to Firm safety policies and culture of a safe work environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS in Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or other applied science discipline, MS or PhD preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 10 years’ experience
  • PE or ability to become a PE in at least one state preferred
  • Strong written and technical writing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), and emission calculation and dispersion modeling software (TANKS, AERMOD, Emission Master, LandGEM, etc.)
  • Proven track record of technical merits and project success
