Drexel University’s Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science (BEES) lives by the "Field Experience, Early and Often" motto. Students gain hands-on experience right from the start through our Pre-Term Field Experience, and have unprecedented access to incredible facilities, including local and international field sites, Drexel’s Gold-LEED-certified Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building, not to mention the incredible Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the oldest natural history museum in the Western Hemisphere.

Faculty in the department are renowned scientists from Drexel and the Academy, specializing in the fields of environmental science, earth science, ecology and conservation, biodiversity and evolution, geoscience and paleontology.

Through hands-on experience and close mentorship, students hone their professional and educational interests, allowing for greater success and satisfaction after graduation.

Position Overview

  • The Department of Biodiversity, Earth & Environmental Science (BEES) seeks applicants for a 9-month teaching faculty appointment, Assistant Teaching Professor, with the possibility for renewal.
  • This position carries a teaching load of 12 credits per quarter, for three quarters, totaling 36 credits over the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms of Academic Year 2018-2019.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a PhD by 9/1/2018 in ecology, marine science, or a related field. 
  • Areas of relevant teaching expertise include environmental science/chemistry, ecology, GIS and environmental modeling, stream ecosystems and watersheds.
  • Relevant experience with hands on field methods in environmental science and ecology are essential.
  • Applicants should possess a record of scientific achievement and a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.
