~ Alaska Wilderness League is the only Washington, DC-based conservation group devoted full-time to protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other wilderness quality lands and waters offshore in Alaska. ~

Founded in 1993, the League is a 501(c)(3) organization that works at the federal level on a variety of issues affecting Alaska’s wild lands and waters. With headquarters in DC and offices in Alaska and across the country, the League’s mission is to lead the effort to preserve Alaska’s wild lands and waters by engaging citizens and decision makers with a courageous, constant, victorious voice for Alaska.

Position Overview

The Development Coordinator provides support for all the League’s development activities. This position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills as well as attention to detail, and is primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day functioning of the League’s development programs.

Functions of the position include processing incoming donations online and through the mail; maintaining data integrity and basic clean-up tasks in the League’s Raiser’s Edge database; helping coordinate stewardship and cultivation activities for League donors; producing various membership communications and reports; and managing development event-related logistic needs. Responsibilities also include managing the advocacy data link between ActionKit and Raiser’s Edge.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all League’s Raiser’s Edge database functions including updating records, tracking donations, producing donor lists and maintaining data integrity
  • Manage League stewardship and acknowledgment process for each donation
  • Produce development-focused materials for general membership including solicitations, newsletter articles and direct correspondence to member inquiries
  • Implement mail merges and other development mailings, invitations and communications
  • Handles all general development calls, including follow up calls to donors and prospective donors
  • Other duties, as they arise

Qualifications

  • Relational database experience required, Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of professional work experience, preferably in a non-profit fundraising environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Access is required, Microsoft SQL experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • An Associate or Bachelors degree from an accredited education institution preferred
