Position Overview

Navigant’s Customers & Markets team focuses on energy efficiency, demand response and clean distributed energy resources. We help the energy industry modernize, increase profitability, and mitigate risk through investment in a wide range of energy technologies. Our extensive industry expertise and rigorous analytical capabilities generate innovative and forward-looking insight to help clients position themselves for a profitable and sustainable future. Our team’s customer side services focus on: 

  • Market Research & Characterization
  • Resource Planning & Potential Studies
  • Program Design
  • Program Evaluation (Impact & Process)
  • Regulatory & Policy Strategy & Support. 

Responsibilities 

  • We are seeking a Consultant to join our Energy Customers & Markets group as part of the Process Evaluation and Customer Experience Team
  • As members of our team, consultants work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities, particularly in the field of distributed energy resource (DER) strategies including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and demand management
  • The consultant will perform a wide range of activities including DER program evaluation, program and policy planning, and market and technology assessments
  • This includes involvement and interaction with utility companies, program implementers, government agencies, industry representatives, trade organizations, end-use customers, and efficiency advocates

Specific activities may include: 

  • Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis
  • Continuous improvement evaluation of DER programs
  • Assessing utility customer experience with DER technologies and programs
  • Developing customer engagement strategies for utilities, government, and energy companies
  • Analyzing technology trends with a focus on how utility customers experience said technologies
  • Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations

Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree with an emphasis on human-centric research and design, analysis, logical reasoning, and/or problem solving (e.g., social science, economics, market research, etc.)
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research such as surveys, in-depth interviews, and logic modeling
  • Strong interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed organizational and management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as SPSS or other statistical software
  • Ability to travel and to work overtime hours as needed 

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work
  • Frequently travels by airplane, train or car as necessary to perform work at another location
  • Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
  • Generally works in an office environment
