Position Overview

Our Energy Efficiency Sales Consultant will work primarily in the field in Sacramento. This position requires a passion for building relationships and working closely with business owners and other decision makers while selling appropriate energy upgrades.

The Energy Efficiency Sales Consultant will visit customers to evaluate their energy systems, identify appropriate upgrades, and sell the benefits of the recommended measures. The market focus includes small to medium size businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Approach and build relationships with decision makers and prospective business participants in the markets noted above.
  • Cold call with a "no fear" persistent attitude.
  • Get to the decision maker and sell and enroll them in applicable program.
  • Conduct comprehensive energy efficiency audits.
  • Gather energy end use information for customers.
  • Ensure accurate customer information is entered into the audit and design tools provided.
  • Generate, present and, sell retrofit proposals to small businesses.
  • Conduct post-installation quality control inspections.
  • Employ a continuous program improvement process in the daily workflow.
  • Work to ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Thrive in a competitive environment by reaching and exceeding sales quotas.
  • Organize sales strategy and manage territory utilizing resources such as Program Partners, Utility Representatives, and Contractor referrals.
  • Compile accurate and timely forecasts and sales reports for Sales Manager.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years B2B Sales Experience.
  • BA/BS or five years of experience in a professional setting.
  • Ability to build pipelines, close and manage multiple sales simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success opening up/ expanding into new markets and territories.
  • Experience selling into C-suite or executive management branches.
  • Superb time management and organization.
  • Ability to work alone and be self-motivated.
  • Accuracy with reporting analysis and ability for strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to acquire and use technical information accurately in the field.
  • Ability to excel in a commissioned sales environment.
  • Ability to adapt work style and approach to evolving market conditions.
  • Required up-to-date proficiency in use of MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel, and CRM software like Salesforce and Social Media skills.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Small/medium commercial energy efficiency audit or installation.
  • Electrical contracting, maintenance, or equivalent in another field.
  • Experience with lighting technologies.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry and HVAC sales.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear, and use a computer keyboard and monitor. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The successful employee must also be able to climb stairs or ladders occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Compensation: The compensation for this position consists of a competitive annual base salary and an additional annual incentive paid monthly based on kilowatt hours saved. Ecology Action also offers a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and flexible spending benefits; a 401k-retirement plan with a 4% match; and group life insurance. Driving an insured personal vehicle on company business is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided at the Federal rate.
