Patriot currently owns and manages three operating projects, with another in construction. The Patriot team is made up of skilled individuals with proven abilities in project development, renewable energy, and environmental stewardship.

Patriot Renewables is an affiliate of Jay Cashman, Inc., an experienced, multidisciplinary East Coast construction firm that lends its expertise and resources in civil, marine, and dredging to design, develop, and construct complex wind projects.

Position Overview

Dynamic renewable energy company offers a high growth opportunity for a Commercial Real Estate Project Development professional with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team in advancing our footprint in commercial solar and wind energy development projects, ranging in size from 500 KW to 10 MW.

This role requires a self-starting strategist with a broad understanding of the renewable energy industry and the diverging factors that can affect the successful execution of a solar or wind energy development strategy. The ideal candidate must have a proven history of successfully identifying real estate opportunities for the development of renewable energy projects, negotiating land rights, and managing the acquisition process.

The role requires understanding of real estate fundamentals, including matters related to acquisition and title clearing and have strong financial skills with experience drafting pro forma financial statements in order to demonstrate economic viability of projects, assess risks, and develop mitigation strategies.

This position will serve as project executive from initial site identification through development, and implementation. This key role will develop project budgets and schedules, guiding projects through the interconnection and permitting process. This position will work closely with the construction project manager, site superintendent, subcontractors, vendors, utilities, and environmental agencies. The ideal candidate must have strong finance and budgeting skills and proven experience in project development.

Responsibilities

  • Identify suitable sites and negotiate land rights
  • Draft pro forma to determine project economic viability
  • Review ALTA surveys
  • Perform real estate due diligence including assessment of title risk and clearing of title matters, hazardous materials investigations and remediation, and land use permitting
  • Review and research title and coordinate title underwriting issues relating to land ownership and title policies
  • Develop mitigation strategies associated with transaction structures, title matters, and environmental conditions
  • Collect site specific data to perform preliminary site design
  • Secure long-term power sales contracts
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collaborate with design engineer(s) to negotiate and finalize subcontracts with subcontractors
  • Coordinate project procurement, including materials and subcontracted scopes
  • Coordinate with construction engineers and construction managers
  • Ensure successful QA/QC and commissioning process
  • Prepare final project documentation

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in related field required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 5 years’ related experience in Wind/Solar Project Management
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing financial models and managing project costs
  • Contract negotiation experience, preferred
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills is a must
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a high-performing team
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
