Position Overview

The Quality Process Engineer will support the Innovation Quality Assurance Team’s projects and initiatives. Focusing on initial scale up, qualification and commercialization of new and renovated products, enhancing quality systems (SVG and manufacturing partners), developing and delivering specifications, managing issue resolution, driving ongoing continuous improvement and value optimization activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, optimize and distribute product specifications, test methodologies and procedures.
  • Work with product formulators on product scale up to ensure successful qualification and commercialization of new or renovated product(s). Serving as manufacturing partner process subject matter expert.
  • Design and conduct line trials to assess capability, qualify and commercialize new or modified formulas, processes, equipment, packaging and/or products at new and existing manufacturing partners.
  • Track manufacturing partner/quality metrics as part of Manufacturing Partner Performance Process/Review.
  • Manage and complete Quality Assurance related tasks for new or renovated product launches.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of standards and methods for quality systems, manufacturing processes, testing, evaluation, etc.
  • Facilitate change management process with manufacturing partners.
  • Actively participate and assist in the evaluation and qualification of new manufacturing partners/suppliers.
  • Analyze consumer complaints and material non-conformances for trends and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Determine process capability of critical manufacturing processes and develop improvement plans (as/if needed).
  • Work with manufacturing partners to improve quality performance, implement quality systems/processes and process controls.
  • Maintains working knowledge of applicable government regulations, certifications and standards (FDA, EPA, Kosher, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applied science or engineering field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of quality assurance in a manufacturing environment required, preferably in consumer packaged goods.
  • Demonstrated quality management experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, quality tools (i.e. FMEA), statistical process control (SPC)/tools, structured problem solving (8D, PDCA) and continuous improvement concepts and practices.
  • Exceptional analytical, root-cause-analysis, and decision making abilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with consumer packaging systems and materials.
  • Previous hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, including a fundamental understanding of basic lab equipment, solution preparation, titrations, and general lab safety preferred.
  • ASQ certification a plus.
  • Passion for working in a values based company.

  • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, statistical and specification management software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% both domestic and international.
