Position Overview

Canon U.S.A. is seeking an Environment Management System Specialist (Specialist, EMS) to maintain and improve the Canon Americas EMS. This position will maintain ISO 14001 certification and support Canon U.S.A.’s EMS as a part of, and in accordance with, the framework of the Canon Global Consolidated EMS. This position also will support environmental and chemical safety-related regulatory compliance as it pertains to Canon products.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of the Canon EMS, including creation and review of EMS-related documentation, achievement of corporate objectives, and tracking of company environmental performance
  • Conduct audits of the company’s EMS to ensure compliance and proper maintenance of EMS requirements; monitor progress against the environmental policy, corporate objectives, and legal requirements
  • Develop and deliver training to enhance environmental awareness and competency throughout the organization
  • Provide guidance and assistance on environmental matters for personnel throughout Canon Americas’ operations
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with environmental regulations that affect Canon products and operations throughout North and South America
  • Maintain and improve environmental and chemical safety-related compliance programs managed by the department, such as submission of required registrations/reports and provision of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
  • Coordinate external and internal environmental communications and outreach, including social media and web

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; preferred in Environmental Science or a similar field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting corporate environmental programs
  • Working knowledge of the ISO 14001 Standard and EMS principles
  • Prior experience reading and reviewing regulatory requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to run effective meetings and accomplish tasks involving cross-functional teams
  • Formal project management training or experience is a plus
  • The position will require travel, up to 15%
