Business Conference on New Social Responsibility Standard
The Australian Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility is delighted to announce our 4th Annual Conference, "Meeting the Standard: the Post-GFC World of Responsible Business Practice". To be held in Melbourne on 19 February, 2010, this conference will discuss what a new global standard on social responsibility principles, topics and practices will mean for the business world.
In 2010, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the world's leading standards body, will release a global guidance standard on what it means to be a socially responsible organisation. ISO 26000 has the potential to reshape the CSR landscape, especially in the aftermath of the global financial crisis which proved that ‘business as usual' is no longer viable in today's world.
Officially opened by the Deputy Premier of Victoria and Attorney General, the Hon. Rob Hulls MP, the conference will feature international speakers and experts on ISO 26000 who have been central to its development:
- Jonathan Hanks, Convenor of the ISO 26000 Working Group on Scope, Social Responsibility Context and Social Responsibility Principles
- Deni Greene, Project Editor, ISO 26000
- Bill Dee, Representative of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals to ISO 26000
- Peter Colley, Representative of the ACTU to ISO 26000
- Paul Hohnen, Representative of the Global Reporting Initiative to ISO 26000
Attended by over 200 leaders in business, government, civil society and academia each year, ACCSR's Annual Conference has rapidly become recognised as a leading event in the Australian social responsibility events calendar, providing thought leadership by addressing the key issues and trends in corporate social responsibility.
