New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city will spend $2.3 billion to cut greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2017, according to a Reuters report.

Very few details were given, but the Mayor suggested the money will focus on reducing emissions from municipal buildings and operations--one of the initiatives of his PlaNYC, which aims to manage the city's growth in an environmentally conscious fashion over the next few decades.
