Four out of the 19 solar consortia have been selected as finalists to finance, build and operate a mammoth 500 MW solar thermal plant south of Morocco.
The finalists will receive requests for proposals by the end of January. The project will be built in phases, starting with 125 MW and gradually expanding to 500 MW by 2015.
Masen, the agency managing the project, selected the following consortia:
- Abengoa Solar, Abeinsa ICI, Mitsui and Abu Dhabi National Energy Co.
- Enel and ACS SCE
- International Company for Water and Power (ACWA), Aries IS and TSK EE
- Solar Millennium, Orascom Construction Industries, and Evonik Steag
