Congressional auditors issued a report on Friday showing that the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star program is highly vulnerable to fraud.
The labeling program was created to provide consumers with a quick method of choosing energy efficient products--ranging from refrigerators to computers.
However, the Government Accountability Office created fake companies and products--some with rather outrageous claims--and each was granted Energy Star status with few or no questions.
